Lately I have been obsessed with learning to make wooden signs. I have made at least one a day, trying to learn all the little tips and tricks that practice could teach me. I have a garage full of scrap wood, so I have the luxury of being able to practice a lot.
Right now I am doing mostly small signs. Mostly 6×12 pieces that I had left over from things that were built a couple years ago. (I never throw away wood)
Here are a few of the signs I have done so far …
This one was from a pile of scrap fence slats. I really like how the cut marks added to the sign. I love the rustic look.
This one I made for my son. He has 3 beautiful daughters and a love for guns. I thought it fit him very well. This board was a left over shelf out a cupboard I think.
This one I made with my mother in mind. My niece had posted a beautiful picture of a cardinal and it made me think of my mom and how she just loved cardinals. My mom passed away just a couple months ago and she is still in my thoughts daily.
This one actually started out as a totally different idea, but after I got looking at it, it had a picture already on it. The deer and the tress are stencils, but the rest are the cut marks the wood already had and I just tinted with watered down paint.
This is what I have done so far. I am still learning, still loving and still working on a huge scrap pile.
Thank you for coming, and see you soon,
