Let’s make a Negative on Canvas – Paint Method
Today I wanted to get caught up on some of the projects I had started for myself and just not finished. I have 8 grand children and I am making a Negative Canvas for each of them, but so far I only have 5 done. Plus I wanted to do one as a gift for a good friend of mine of his “Tiny Human”.
So today I am going to show you “ONE” of the ways to make these adorable canvases. This is the Paint on Paint method. Which means you will be using paint and a stencil. The Stencil you can cut on a cutting machine, I use my Cricut, or you can cut it by hand using an Xacto knife.
Thinks you will need…
- Canvas – 8×10
- Photo of your choice – 7×9 print size
- Black and White Acrylic Paint
- Contact Paper – for Stencil
- Transfer Tape
- Painters Tape
- Paint Brushes
- Dauber Brush
- Pokey Thing
**Don’t forget something to use as a paint pallet, water for your brush, something to brace your canvas center and paper towels.
To change your photo to monochrome there are a few places you can do it online.
LunaPic – https://www140.lunapic.com/editor/?action=monochrome
IMGonline – https://www.imgonline.com.ua/eng/monochrome-picture.php
Or you can do it in just about any graphics program. I use PhotoShop.
